Writing no. 1
The last four years at high school, we had to practice writing a lot. And even though I didn't enjoy doing it that much, I learnt lots of new phrases and words which made the essays look more professional.
This essay I wrote is about online booking, a rising trend in the last few years. Balanced argument should have an introduction to the topic, the next two (or more) paragraphs discuss advantages and disadvantages and it should end with some sort of summary or conclusion. I think I managed this quite well. In feedback, my teacher pointed out some mistakes like repeating words and using too informal phrases, so I'm trying to look out for these.
Writing no. 2
My next writing item is a formal letter - customer complaining about the service he received. This kind of letter/email/message contains these parts: the reason I'm writing, what happened, what I liked or didn't like, the expected outcome or suggestion (e.g. a compensation) and lastly, greeting or thanks and signature. It's important to use formal language. For example, you shouldn't use contracted forms: I'm vs. I am, I didn't vs. I did not, it'll vs. it will, they should've vs. they should have.
I enjoyed writing this because it's something different than normal essays. Although I knew what I wanted to say, I struggled a bit to find the right words, so the formal part of this was kind of challenging. The teacher's feedback was generally good.
